Kawader ERP — Packaging — Carton & Flexible
A packaging plant quotes before it knows anything except the drawing. How many pieces come off a sheet is decided at that moment, and everything afterwards is held to it.
What a general system gets wrong here
Nesting decides the yield
How many packs come off a sheet is a layout decision taken before the quote is sent. The trim between them is the difference between a profitable run and a busy one.
The tool belongs to the customer
Dies, cylinders and plates are held for one customer's job, stored, maintained and sometimes re-cut. They are assets on your floor with an owner who is not you.
Make-ready is the real cost of a short run
Setup consumes material and hours whatever the quantity, so a thousand packs and ten thousand cost almost the same to start. Pricing per piece without that is pricing at a loss.
Reels in, pieces out
Purchased in tonnes or linear metres and sold in units, with the conversion a property of the job rather than of the item. The same board gives different piece counts on different orders.
